Remember there are fuels out there although maybe a cheap solution may not be compatable with your open fire and especially your multifuel stove.
1. Could contain 80-99% of petroleum coke which is not recommended for use on stoves which if fire is under warranty would void it if any damage occurs under its useage.
2. Could seriously damage your fire causing warping of throat plate, grate and in some cases cracking of casting to fire as petroleum coke is so very fierce used on its own.
3. Certain house coals especially open cast unwashed coals can be very dangerous can contain unseen stone which when hot can spit and fire out which especially on an open fire could cause a fire.Some stoves can burn housecoal and burning this type of unwashed coal can cause breakage to glass through the spitting and could again cause a fire.
